Sharing Tree

Our parish, while it is only 1+ years under the Regina Coeli name, our three church sites have been holding annual Sharing Tree gift collections for over 30+ years each. The annual Sharing Tree helps many organizations, including our homebound parishioners, local nursing home residents and those in our communities most in need. Below are the important dates to make note of for each church site, including the dates the gift tags will be available and the dates the gifts must be returned by. We ask that you return your purchased gift to the same church you picked up the tag from so that the gift will make it to its intended recipient. The deadlines for gift return are below in bold print. At this time the gifts are sorted and then picked up by the various agencies. Late gifts will not be able to be delivered. Please keep in mind that while the tags may have a gift item printed on them, they are simply suggestions or an idea for a gift. These are not specific requests from the individual. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
ASSUMPTION
Gifts are to be returned to McGovern Hall no later than NOON on Sunday, December 3rd. Volunteers will sort gifts at that time.

Gifts are to be returned to the front of church no later than 12:00pm on Sunday, December 10th. Volunteers will sort gifts beginning at Noon that day.

Volunteering - Be a Christmas Angel
Have you ever wanted to help with the Sharing Tree programs? We need extra hands to assist with the gift sorting process. If you wish to help, please arrive at the times that are above in bold print. The deadlines to return gifts are also the dates, times and locations of sorting gifts at each church site. If you have questions please email the head volunteer listed for each church.

Parish Wide Food Drive

Many charities request extra help stocking their food pantries during the holiday season. As a parish, instead of holding a separate collection each week, we will have one large, combined food drive. We will sort the donations and then deliver items to the various charities. Each church site will have a large wooden box marked for food donations.
Our collections will benefit the following organizations:
- Mary's Gate at Assumption Church and Sacred Heart Church
- North Hills Community Outreach
- St. Vincent DePaul
- Blessings in a Backpack(Avonworth schools)
- Miss Nancy's Thanksgiving
Requested items:
- Canned Proteins: tuna, chicken, salmon, Spam, beans
- Breakfast items: boxed cereal, shelf stable milk, oatmeal, protein bars, granola & granola bars
- Meals in a can/box: soup, stew, chili, canned ravioli, pasta meal, mac and cheese boxes with pre-made cheese sauce, pancake/bread/muffin mix (that requires only water)
- Canned veggies: canned vegetables, canned tomato products, canned spaghetti sauce
- Fruits: canned fruit, applesauce, creanberry sauce
- Cooking essentials - Oils and Condiments: vegetable oil, salad dressing, peanut butter, jelly and jam, mayonnaise, ketchup & mustard, spices and seasonings.
- Paper Products: toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, tissues, large disposable steam pans
- Soap Products: hand soap, laundry and dish detergent, cleaning products
- Personal Care Products: shampoo & conditioner, toothpaste & toothbrushes, shaving cream & razors, deodorant, feminine hygiene products tampons, panty liners & feminine wipes
- Holiday Essentials: stuffing mix, instant mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, canned pie filling, dry cookie mixes, disposable foil pans for cooking.
A few things to keep in mind when purchasing items for donation:
- Only donate plastic or canned items. Please no glass jars or containers.
- Pop-top cans are best
- Products that can be easily made without additional ingredients are appreciated.
- Single serve items are helpful for the backpacks.

Appalachia Mission Used Toy & Clothing Drive

We continue supporting Appalachia through collection and distribution of items to those in need during the Christmas season. Donations of gently used toys and children’s clothing will be collected as well as other items for flood victims that lost everything a few months ago. The collection benefits any needy residents in Preston County, WV (and sometimes beyond) and is managed through St. Sebastian Parish in Kingwood, WV.
This year they are in need of other items including: Older youth and adult clothing, new or used household items (dishes, pots & pans, small appliances, silverware, cups & glasses, bedding, towels, curtains), holiday decorations. Please label your donations Appalachia Christmas Collection and drop off at St. John Neumann from 10/21/23 thru 11/5/23.
*Please note that the only church site accepting donations is St. John Neumann. Please take your donations to 2230 Rochester Road, Franklin Park 15237. Thank you!
