The Sacrament of Initiation is the reception of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation. The normal process for reception of this sacrament by children from Assumption or Sacred Heart is through a two-year preparation (7th and 8th grade) during CCD classes at Assumption or supplemental preparation through the Family Catechesis program. Preparation at St. John Neumann is held through the Ignite program and supplemental classes are scheduled at St. John Neumann prior to celebrating the sacrament.
An alternate process, Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC), is available for those children who have missed some pieces of the regular timeline for the reception of sacraments, including Baptism, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the avenue for adults who would like to become fully initiated in the Catholic Church. Confirmation is the final piece of this process.
